We Brought Mozilla's Hello WebXR Back From the Dead

Hello WebXR! was the demo Mozilla built to celebrate the WebXR spec — a museum you walk through in your browser, and for many people the moment the immersive web clicked. Its original home now redirects to a shutdown notice. It's MIT licensed, so we rebuilt it. Three things nearly broke the copy, including Mozilla's analytics tag, still firing.

WebXR Quietly Moved Forward — and Layers Could Make Browser VR Much Better

The W3C published a new WebXR Device API Candidate Recommendation Draft on 9 June, followed by an updated WebXR Layers API draft on 12 June. Layers is the one you can actually see: it hands video, images and UI panels straight to the headset compositor instead of faking them with textured geometry. Sharper text, steadier video, less renderer work.

Google's XR Blocks Now Lets AI Agents Enter and Test Virtual Worlds

XR Blocks v0.17.0 added remote automation, a simulated embodied user and headless testing — so a script, a CI pipeline or an AI agent can walk through a WebXR scene, point, pinch and take screenshots with nobody wearing a headset. Automated regression testing finally comes to the immersive web.
